Welcome to The Unlimited Story Deck!

In your hands you hold the means for telling any story that you can imagine. Each card in the deck represents a distinct type of character, event, setting, object, or dynamic, which can be played in relation to each other to form new and unexpected narratives.

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to tell a story, The Unlimited Story Deck has been designed to make storytelling an easy and enjoyable process for everybody! Imagine telling someone about your day; this is a story. The kinds of steps you might describe to get from each event that has happened to you are just like the narrative connections you must make to tell an Unlimited Story. Furthermore, if you have ever read a book or watched a movie, you are probably already familiar with many of the regularly occurring characters and events of narratives, and may have some idea of how these kinds of storytelling elements can be used.

For example, imagine you have drawn the Superhero character card. You probably have a number of associations or expectations of what superheroes do, which will pop right to mind as soon as you see the words. Now imagine some Zombies. The zombies might be the enemies of the superhero, or the superhero might be a zombie, or, if someone has played the Falling in Love event card, then maybe the superhero has fallen in love with a zombie, but that’s another story entirely!

As you can see, narrating stories using The Unlimited Story Deck is a fairly simple process: play a card on the table, and then when you or a fellow narrator plays the next card, just make up whatever kind of connection between the cards that will build the story you want to tell. The only hard rule is that you express these narrative connections out loud so that everyone can tell where the story is going!
